We’re a platform that connects online shoppers with product reviewers of similar size + fit\, culture + creed\, and style + taste. We have two main goals: \n1. Make it simple for e-commerce shoppers to find products they love! By aggregating product reviews from fashion retailers\, our users can quickly filter them to identify style by style\, size\, and culture.\n2. Build robust machine learning models that can help retailers learn more about the buying habits\, opinions\, and trends across multiple channels. \nIn this session we’ll talk a bit about what Swayance is and how we do what we do. Then we’ll deep dive into how it was built using mostly Python. We’ll look at code\, walk through what it does\, talk about why we made certain decisions\, and look at how it all runs on AWS for mostly free. \nThis talk is meant to be very interactive. DESCRIPTION:The process of designing a relational database is not overly complex\, and may be done by almost anyone on the development team. The process requires one to take the time to understand the requirements\, when they exist\, and apply a straightforward set of transforms to produce table structures that meets the needs. The tough part is that the process requires time and experience\, neither of which anyone has enough of. In this session\, to help the attendee differentiate right-enough designs from overly simple or overly complex designs\, we will look at a variety of database snippets\, each inspired from a real life design. We will discuss the pros and cons of the approach taken\, and consider possible remediations to learn from a failure that was made by someone else. \nAbout Louis Davidson: \nLouis Davidson has worked in the IT industry for over 20 years as a corporate database developer and architect. He has been a Microsoft SQL Server MVP for 15 years and has written six books on database design and other SQL Server topics.
