PyRVA (Python User Group – Richmond, VA)

October 9, 2019 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Join us for our monthly speaker meeting!

How We Built It – Swayance.com and a lot of Python

Swayance is a fashion/tech start-up located in RVA. We’re a platform that connects online shoppers with product reviewers of similar size + fit, culture + creed, and style + taste. We have two main goals:

1. Make it simple for e-commerce shoppers to find products they love! By aggregating product reviews from fashion retailers, our users can quickly filter them to identify style by style, size, and culture.
2. Build robust machine learning models that can help retailers learn more about the buying habits, opinions, and trends across multiple channels.

In this session we’ll talk a bit about what Swayance is and how we do what we do. Then we’ll deep dive into how it was built using mostly Python. We’ll look at code, walk through what it does, talk about why we made certain decisions, and look at how it all runs on AWS for mostly free.

This talk is meant to be very interactive. See something you think we did wrong, speak up! Questioning our choices of Python packages, yell it out! Have a question about anything, don’t wait till the end! We’re tech geeks without egos, and love to talk shop.
