Women Who Code Richmond

May 6, 2019 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Join us for a hands-on, interactive workshop diving into the intersections between the multidisciplinary field of study of Human Computer Interaction (HCI) and Product Management! In this workshop, we discuss the applications of HCI in building successful, customer-focused products by exploring methods for user needfinding and empathy research, design alternatives, and prototyping within the context of everyday web applications.

Not familiar with Human-Computer Interaction (HCI)? HCI is a multidisciplinary field of study focused on the design of computer technology and, in particular, the interaction between humans (the users) and computers. While initially concerned with computers, HCI has since expanded to cover almost all forms of information technology design.

In this workshop, we will explore the intersections between Human Computer Interaction and Product Management, specifically focusing on the Design Life Cycle. The iterative nature of the Design Life Cycle enables product managers, designers and engineers to continuously ideate and refine to build truly mature, profitable, customer-focused products. We will have a light dinner and beverages and look forward to a fun evening learning hands-on about HCI!

Laptops are strongly encouraged, but not required.

All levels are welcome, including beginners!
