Getting Smarter with Paige Henke
At Smart Resources, we aren’t just a big group of IT consultants or tech minds. We’re a family. Our team is not only one of the most skilled in the country, but also one of the most interesting. Each month, we feature a conversation with one of our great consultants so that you can get to know us better. This month say hello to Business Analyst/Quality Analyst Lead Paige Henke.
Name: Paige Henke
Position: Business Analyst/Quality Analyst Lead
LinkedIn Profile: https://www.linkedin.com/in/paigehenke/
Years with Smart Resources: 3 months
Professional Background in one sentence:
Business/Test Analyst with 12 years’ experience on legacy and enterprise systems primarily with state and local government.
Describe your typical day.
I spend my days in meetings, translating requirements and conversations between technical and layman’s terms, documenting findings, suggestions, and changes, and advising for or against solutions.
What’s the most rewarding part of your job?
The absolute best part of my job is knowing that I am making other people’s jobs easier. I have always wanted to help people, and I don’t know of any better way to help someone than to make their job easier and more streamlined.
Tell us about the most memorable moment of your career.
In 12 years, there are so many memories that stand out: from Diwali parties, learning new things, meeting amazing people, and hilarious but frustrating technology fails. By far though, my favorite memories are of the amazing people I have met and worked with.
What career advice do you have for someone just starting out in IT?
Be honest, even when you need help! Claiming you know something will be much worse when they figure out you don’t.
Learn from everyone you meet and do your best not to burn bridges. It really is a small world!
Take advantage of training opportunities as they arise and additional duties that lead to experience with new technologies or levels of responsibility.
What will be the biggest tech trend of the next 5 years?
Probably self-driving cars, but that is terrifying to me. I’m still holding out for the self-folding dryer.
Do you have a favorite software program?
Excel is by far my favorite.
What’s your favorite thing to do in the Richmond area?
Eat good food and spend time with friends.
Describe your favorite meal.
I LOVE Mac and Cheese! But also: Greek Fries at Bell Greek.
What’s your favorite song?
It changes daily. Today: Rise Up by Andra Day, Yesterday: The Bones by Maren Morris
Do you have a hidden talent?
I remember random things. Nothing as efficient as a photographic memory, but I’m very good at estimating how many times I’ve heard of issues, noticing when things have moved, and remembering random topics of conversation years later.
What’s your favorite thing to drink in the morning?
Something cold, like iced coffee, an energy drink, or water.
The best movie you’ve ever seen is:
Die Hard
What’s your most prized possession?
It’s not really a possession but memories. They aren’t heavy to carry, and you can take them everywhere you go. I’ve moved a lot so “things” are not something I get too attached to.
